Yamaha RoadStar XV1600A - (98 Cubic Inch Power Plant)
(extract from http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/motor/index.htm?model_cat.asp?modelcatid=11)

Not All Adventures Exist on a Screen
Just layin’ back. That’s what cruising is all about. Stomp a gear (any one will be fine), stretch
out and watch the scenery roll by. With a cubic capacity bigger than some cars, this long-stroke,
48° pushrod V-twin powered, bare-knuckled brute is not going to run out of torque any time soon.

Road Star is one of those masterpieces of design that combines head-turning class with raw, cruiser
torque – a belt-driven merging of classic cool and comfort with modern engineering and materials.
So enjoy some music. It’s not that noisy kind they play on the radio – more the rumbling, syncopated
beat of a 1602cc V-Twin. Just like angels pluckin’ a harp. Perfect.

The 98 cubic inch, pushrod, air cooled, belt driven, V-twin Road Star,
blends technology with styling.

Yamaha's Road Star, classic styling with loads of new technology. The heart of the Road Star is its 98 cubic inch, 48 degree, air-cooled, pushrod V-twin engine that delivers tons of tpurquee with character and attitude.

Designed to maximize the riding experience with all the nostalgia of motorcycling's earliest roots, Yamaha has used the technology of simplicity to provide the best function. The engine itself is designed to operate at the lowest RPM while at cruising speed, providing a distinctive pulse feel with incredible torque. This is accomplished with a long stroke configuration, immense crankshaft, and pushrod valve actuation. The Road Star also has the lowest engine height of any large V-twin cruiser enhancing its long, low style and riding attitude.

Other engine features include forged lightweight pistons, ceramic composite cylinder lining for improved cooling and durability, an auto decompressor which allows for easy starting, semi-dry sump oil system, and a single 40mm Mikuni carburetor with throttle position sensor (TPS), and accelerator pump for the best throttle response.

It's the classic elements that contribute to a major part of the cruiser riding experience. Yamaha's first belt drive system allows for easy customization. Steel fenders also help customization while providing a classic motorcycle feel. The Road Star's dual exhaust system allows for easy aftermarket conversion right at the headpipe. Yamaha also provides a casual touring version of the Road Star called the Silverado, which includes leather saddle bags, studded seats and back rest, adjustable windshield and white-wall tires.

There are numerous other clues that let the rider know the Road Star is a high-tech machine. The instrument panel, encased in a classic style housing, includes twin trip meters, clock, fuel meter, low fuel light, high beam, turn and neutral indicators. Also, there is a self-diagnosis system for TPS, speed sensor, and fuel sender.

Yamaha also has more than 160 Star Line accessories including leather saddlebags, seats, additional chrome and several windshield sizes that are designed to fit on the Road Star.
